art + life + preference

i prefer to type all lowercase, but i print in architectural caps. amongst other good stories, i've spent my whole adult lifetime pursuing a career in art. this was demonstrated early on by declaring art as a college major and creating art that I genuinely enjoyed, especially paintings. but also with the intention to sell my work. this pattern of making and selling art has been unwavering on my journey. so i have a lot of formal and informal education about the process of the true emerging art scene.

on corporate:
i'm one of those who gracefully resigned from a 12 year corporate job. they rehired me years later for a short term, so that speaks for my reputation and work ethic. also, be okay with people working in corporate, high-performing, and still side questing their own separate business. nobody ever challenges your parental duties or golfing practice.
on spirituality:
i ascended Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs with crumbling base layers.

on teaching:
aside from advocating relentless passion for the art industry that we choose to work in, i don’t teach students to follow my path. i teach real life skills, grounded in advanced education, industry experience, aligned with some organizational standards, for students to customize their own journey in the contemporary art market.  ~t.
on the hybrid Artist + Advisor model:
i didn't pick a structure for my business that's a misfit in the industry; i prefer the 5th Hammer theory. from observation, the small-business process is much smoother when you're basic, aligned to industry norms, a follower more than an innovator. and there can be massive success with that, so seriously, congratulations. i've just been out here living my life, aligned with what feels good and right for me.  READ MORE...
preparation + pressure + process
if you had this much passion for the life you chose to pursue, some of my story, and all of my painting skills... you'd also be selling your own art. ~t.
